The Regional Municipality of York Status: Completed 2020 Consultant: Cole Engineering Group Limited The Work includes, but is not limited to, Headworks Corrosion Rehabilitation and Addition of a Metering Chamber at the Mount Albert Water Resource Recovery Facility located at 5866 Doane Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury, consisting of the following:
.1 Headworks Rehabilitation
The existing Headworks is severely corroded due to a high presence of hydrogen sulfide corrosive wastewater gas. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
Removal and disposal of temporary aluminum floor plates
Cleaning the existing wastewater channels and vortex grit tanks within the Headworks
Chipping out deteriorated concrete within the wastewater channels and vortex grit tanks
Rebuilding the concrete wall(s) profiles, including reinforcement
Grit blasting and coating of all the channels and tanks with a cementitious corrosion resistant coating
Supply and installation of stainless steel seating angles along the top of all walls and tanks to support the new covers.
Removal and disposal of existing channel slide gates
Supply and installation of new UV-resistant FRP covers on all channels and tanks
Modifications to the existing concrete inlet chamber, includes: new piping, concrete chipping, and concrete fill, and external excavation
Supply and installation of davit bases and life safety anchor points to replace the existing corroded items
.2 Headworks Bypass
In order to facilitate the Headworks Rehabilitation a bypass must be installed from the inlet forcemain to the lagoon manhole. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
Modification of the “splitter” inlet chamber and piping at plant entrance
Temporary fused HDPE piping from the bypass connection, at the “splitter” inlet chamber, to the existing lagoon manhole
Temporary fused HDPE piping from the existing lagoon manhole to the existing aeration tanks
Bypass pumping system installation, monitoring and removal
Works include excavation, temporary road plates, and roadway repair
.3 Metering Chamber
Precast concrete metering chamber
Includes new magnetic flowmeter, installation and calibration
Includes installation of meter complete with power and signal, SCADA signal termination of meter into existing on-site PAC Panel
Includes excavation and roadway repair.
Removal of the existing 350mm diameter magnetic flow meter located in the headworks building, to be cleaned and returned to the Region, and supply and installation of a spool piece.
